Momentum is building for Affordable Care Act repeal in the Senate as moderates appear to be warming to some of the compromise proposals. We understand that–like the House’s American Health Care Act–the Senate version will ultimately include the repeal of the Prevention and Public Health Fund beginning in FY 2019.
The loss of the Prevention Fund will result in a 12 percent cut in the CDC budget and will have ripple effects throughout the Labor-HHS bill as appropriators work to fill the holes left by the loss of the Fund.
For that reason, I urge CMHNetwork faithful (and their constituents) to join Trust for America’s Health and the Coalition for Health Funding on Thursday, June 15th for a Virtual Advocacy Day in support of the Prevention and Public Health Fund. Here are three quick but important steps you can take today:
Second, please RSVP for the Advocacy Day. TFAH will send you a reminder email about the 15th and include a link to a tool that will make it simple and easy to contact your Members of Congress by phone and via social media;
Finally, please forward this information to any and all colleagues who support health funding!
When tweeting, please consider using #ProtectPrevention to underscore your support for health funding.
