PCORI’s National Priorities for Research and Research Agenda are a framework to guide the funding of comparative clinical effectiveness research that will give patients and those who care for them the ability to make better-informed health decisions.
In developing the priorities and agenda, PCORI held a 53-day public comment period on the draft National Priorities and Research Agenda, from January 23-March 15, 2012. The Institute received 474 comments via its web site, e-mail, postal mail and its first National Patient and Stakeholder Dialogue.
In response to 15 major themes that emerged from more than 450 public comments, the PCORI Board of Governors voted to amend the draft Research Agenda on a public teleconference/ webinar held April 25, 2012. The Board did not recommend changes to the draft National Priorities for Research because public comments did not identify significant gaps in the five proposed priorities.
