Upton-Long Proposal to Increase Funds for High-Risk Pools Covers Only a Fraction of America’s Health Care Consumers with Pre-Existing Conditions

~ A message from our colleagues at Families USA ~
Despite growing opposition to their ACA repeal bill, House Republicans are making last-minute changes in an attempt to get support from lawmakers worried that the bill harms people with pre-existing conditions.
Make no mistake: These changes don’t fix the bill and leave people with pre-existing conditions unprotected. Our new analysis finds that the Upton-Long proposal to increase funds for high-risk pools would cover only a fraction of America’s health care consumers who have pre-existing conditions: As many as 15 million people with pre-existing conditions would be left behind.
