Up to $142.5 million available in strategic prevention framework partnerships for success grants

April 11, 2013

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is accepting applications for up to $142.5 million in Strategic Prevention Framework Partnerships for Success grants to be distributed for up to the next five years. This program addresses two of the nation’s top substance abuse prevention priorities: 1) preventing underage drinking among people aged 12 to 20; and 2) preventing prescription drug misuse and abuse among people aged 12 to 25.

The Strategic Prevention Framework Partnerships for Success grants allow states that have completed a Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant (SPF-SIG), but are not currently receiving funding through SAMHSA’s Partnerships for Success program, to acquire additional resources to implement the SPF process at the state and community levels. Equally important, the Strategic Prevention Framework Partnerships for Success program promotes the alignment and leveraging of prevention resources and priorities at the federal, state, and community levels.

SAMHSA expects that awards of up to approximately $2.3 million each per year will be provided to up to 17 selected grantees, for up to five years. The actual award amounts may vary, depending on the availability of funds.

WHO CAN APPLY: Eligible applicants are limited to recipients of the Substance Abuse Block Grant that have completed a SPF-SIG and are currently not receiving funds through Strategic Prevention Framework Partnerships for Success SPF-PFS grants, including the Strategic Prevention Framework Partnerships for Success II grants.
