Scott Bryant-Comstock inadvertently slips into an altered state of consciousness from immersing himself in the ever-expanding 24-hour news cycle. Once in this state, he discovers a supernatural ability to transport himself inside of a cartoon strip called “Advocacy Tales,” where he is magically able to slow down the barrage of “breaking news” and make sense out of the nonsensical. This issue of Advocacy Tales tackles the recent decision by the Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use to cancel both evaluation and technical assistance contracts abruptly.
