The squeeze is on in California for low-income children

Troubling sign of the times as California is looking to shut down the Healthy Families insurance program for low-income children on January 1st. More than 850,000 kids will be shifted over the course of the year into HMOs that participate in Medi-Cal, California’s version of the federally subsidized Medicaid program.
