Children’s Institute focusing on children of military families
December 14, 2012
Congratulations to the Children’s Institute for developing a new program to treat children of military families living in Los Angeles, particularly those with family members returning from deployment in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. A grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) in collaboration with the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) will allow CII and its partner agencies, the Village Family Services and the Family Service Agency of the Assistance League of Southern California, to deliver trauma treatment to nearly 3,000 children, with a special focus on the military population. This support will provide mental health services critical for families to remain stable and strong.
