Call for Young Adult Leader/Family Leader nominations for Awareness Day 2014
January 27, 2014
National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day (Awareness Day) 2014 is getting closer and here is one of the ways for your community to participate this year!
Do you know any young adults with mental health challenges that have valuable stories of resilience? Do you know any peer supporters who have helped these young adults with mental health challenges to make the transition into adulthood?
If so, you can honor them and share their story of resilience and support. The Caring for Every Child Campaign is looking to you to nominate young adults with mental health challenges and family members of young adults with mental health challenge who are certified peer support specialists.
If selected, the nominees will be called upon to share their stories the Awareness Day 2014 launch event, before a live audience of up to 7,000 people including, behavioral healthcare providers, senior federal officials and the national media. The event takes place in Washington, DC, on May 6, 2014. It will be webcast live nationwide and archived for 6 months. The launch event will spotlight the experiences of young adults and families of young adults who live with mental health and/or substance use challenges and who with the help of peer support, have been resilient in one or more of the following four life domains: housing, education, employment, and health care access.
