Black Barbershop Health Outreach Program in S.F.
Dwayne Robinson, the lean and gregarious owner of Bayview Barber College, hands his patron a flyer, then leans in for the pitch. "Didn't you know that high blood pressure and diabetes are the top killers of African American men?" he asks, playfully slapping the man's shoulder. Robinson, 52, is one of several barbershop proprietors in the Bay Area hosting the Black Barbershop Health Outreach Program to raise awareness of the diseases that plague his community.
