Please note that the federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality AHRQ is seeking comment until February 26 on a set of "key questions" to be used in proposed research on Improving Cultural Competence to Reduce Health Disparities for Priority Populations. AHRQ says that key questions help ensure research stays focused on the findings that patients, clinicians, and health care policymakers need in order to make effective decisions. Key questions" tell the researchers what to look for in the evidence. Public comment on proposed key questions helps researchers and experts think about what is most important to ask, so that their research is as useful as possible.
The proposed set of research key questions hyperlinked above would look at the effectiveness of interventions to improve culturally appropriate health care among a number of demographic groups, including children and adults with disabilities. They would also measure the impact of interventions to improve culturally appropriate health care on mental health outcomes and on patient health behaviors such as tobacco use and health seeking behaviors.
Please take the time to offer your input! It is suggested that small groups join to review and offer important and useful feedback.
