The Wrong Side of History

GUN VIOLENCE.. It's time to talk about it.

I wrote this poem over a year ago. I wrote it for myself. I wrote it because I was tired, and scared, and angry.

We were going to release this video on the anniversary of Sandy Hook as a tribute to the victims, but the terrible event in Las Vegas has made it impossible for me to remain silent. We all have a responsibility to stand up for what we believe in and use our voices to create change. There's nothing more American than that.

My heart goes out to anyone who has experienced tragedy through gun violence. My love and prayers are with you. I hope that we can come together as a country and do what's right.

YES! History repeats itself, opportunity doesn't...and we are all on the wrong side of history if we are not DOING something. Every politician who is waffling on whether it's the gun or the person (it's both) needs to go, and citizens who are more concerned for whether they can have their weapon without a hassle than a child's life...are part of the mental health 'problem' in this country!

Thank you! For the first time in years people are starting to talk. In the past when I bring up guns in this country,or an article, a speech, the conversation among liberal Dems stops, but no more. Now they are talking.
We don't need the gun owners, we need all the non-talkers to talk and to act. That will be enough. The NRA is everywhere. They show up, they yell that a speaker is lying at city council meetings, they try to shame and hurt the speaker when they legally rebut, but no more, their accusations come without any cogent facts, just accusations. We all need to act. Gratifying is the number of people ages 15 to 45 working for gun control laws. Organizations are combining to fight together and show up in bigger numbers. Notice that the NRA never publishes a list of those who have resigned over their disgust with the organization. We need tem to come forward and speak out about their resignations.
    Thank you again!
