Bridges moved the system of care forward by placing Student Service Teams in schools. Student Service Team consisted of an Intervention Specialist, a Student Service Coordinator, and a Family Liaison. The team members were hired by the Regional Boards, but were located in the schools, enabling them to become a part of the school culture. This integration was helpful in reducing stigma often associated with receiving mental health services, especially in rural areas. Additionally, this arrangement allowed Bridges staff, school staff, and families to work more closely together and on a more informal basis.
