'Skinny' Repeal Bill Defeated 
Thanks to all Network faithful who took the time to share their thoughts with their Senators on the 'Skinny' Bill. However, there is the need for continued advocacy with congressional leaders on the importance of a health care bill that puts families first. Take a breather this weekend, but be prepared to ramp up again next week as new proposals begin to percolate in Washington, DC.

Trump Administration Suddenly Pulls Plug on Teen Pregnancy Programs
Last week I told you about an abrupt decision by HHS and SAMHSA to prematurely end a grant program designed to evaluate strategies for meeting the needs of emerging adults with mental health challenges (Is SAMHSA Giving Up on Transition-Age Youth?). Unfortunately, the hits keep on coming. This time, the Office of Adolescent Health is in the crosshairs, an agency in HHS that has been doing consistently excellent work over the past eight years in developing creative strategies for involving teens and young adults in healthy decision-making. HHS announced that they would be stopping hundreds of millions of dollars worth of funding for programs focused on reducing teen pregnancy a full two years early in the promised five-year funding cycle.

Addressing Students' Mental Health Needs: Stamford Public Schools' Comprehensive Trauma-Informed System
CHDI's latest Issue Brief explores how Stamford Public Schools responded to a series of suicides by building a trauma-informed model for school mental health that is resulting in better outcomes for students. The process, strategies, and lessons learned by Stamford Public Schools can help guide other districts seeking to improve their mental health services and supports.

HHS Awards $72.5 Million in Funding for Youth Mental Health Services
HHS has awarded $72.5 million in grants through the Expansion and Sustainability of the Comprehensive Community Mental Health Services for Children with Serious Emotional Disturbances Program, also known as the Children’s Mental Health Initiative. SAMHSA will distribute the funding to seven states and one local government agency to improve outcomes for children, youth, and young adults who experience serious emotional disturbances and their families. Regions receiving funding include Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Carrol County in Maryland. Grants range from $1 to $3 million per year over four years.

Redesigned NREPP Learning Center Launched
SAMHSA announces the launch of the new Learning Center website for the National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices. The site was designed to provide resources for developing, implementing, and sustaining culture-centered and evidence-based programs and practices. Learning Center tools provide practical support for using evidence-based programs and practices to improve the behavioral health of clients, family members, and communities.
